LAST CINEMA PERFORMANCE?

WELCOME SPEECH AND THE APPEAL OF MINI FEST 2010 SUPPORTER

Dear film fans,

While these days Belgrade has prestigious FEST 2010 film festival going on, tonight in Nis in the cinema of Serbian Army Club - the last cinema space that is still resistible to time temptations and transformations, one already traditional film manifestation – MINIFEST with the motto `Last cinema performance` will begin starting from 20 00 hours.

As it has beenpreviously announce,d  from February 24 to March 2 there will be 14 movies of the latest worldwide  production. Palilula Municipality has supported this manifestation in culture since 2009. We are inviting you too to visit Minifest and be a part of Last cinema performance.  

Are we dealing here with `marketing trick` or is it a real warning of MINIFEST organizers in Nis that there is realistic possibility of disappearing of even the very last cinema in Nis? It is obvious that in the first decade of the third millennium cinema just dies and public is more turned to new forms of media culture. Nis, film city and promoter of national films, is loosing the battle with high standards of new technologies.

Larry McMurtry, the author of `The last picture show` and co-author of the script with Peter Bogdanovich, who put this story to screen (1971), long time ago announced the sinking of Hollywood ship. Are we ready for this sort of temptation?

Cooperation with cultural institutions, especially Nis cultural center, that is situated in Palilula, makes us more successful since it is a part of our Strategy of Development.
